Brusha Brusha Brusha!

Now that Jack has his teeth, proper dental hygiene is very important. For a while I was brushing his teeth with this little rubber thing that fit over my finger and it had rubber bristles at the end. However, every time I put my finger in his mouth he bit me. So, I decided about two months ago I would upgrade to a baby toothbrush so he wouldn't bite me. Well, since Jack is just so grown up, he insists on bushing his own teeth now. He actually does a pretty good job at it. I only have to interfere a little which usually ends in him screaming at me because HE wants to do it. Yesterday he brushed his teeth for about 10 minutes. When I tried to take the toothbrush back he cried. Maybe he is biting it since he's teething? Well, he has a doctor's appointment on Tuesday so we'll see how well we're really doing at keeping his teeth clean.

Oh! Look at my
angel! Below is from last night's dinner. Around 5pm Jack became really cranky so I put him in his highchair to eat dinner (usually we wait until Kevin gets home so we can eat together). He ate it super fast, and the next thing I know he was asleep. It was the sweetest thing I ever saw. Eating is a very exhausting activity. So, Kevin got home, ate dinner, and we were watching a little tv before I had to go to work. All of a sudden, I thought a plane hit the house! You know what it was though? Jack snoring! His snores are so sweet now, but I can tell you right now that the woman who marries him better be a deep sleeper or deaf.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!

Nothing says good ol' fashion Reese fun like putting a beer and chicken drum in a sleeping baby's hand.

NBS: Naked Baby Syndrome

Chrissyism (Cris-c-is-em): A statement made by me that shows how confused I am. Example #1: Last night I was talking to Kevin about a wood project he wants to do. I asked if he owned a puzzle saw. He said, "You mean a jig saw?". Example #2: My parents once were talking about "buying the farm". I asked them, "Why would you want to own a farm? That'd be a lot of hard work."

Chrissyism for the day: Kevin said, "Jack kept waking up last night because the dog was laughing." I replied sincerely, "Muffin can laugh?" He replied, "Muffin? I'm talking about his toy dog that he sleeps with." Why I would think the family dog could laugh is beyond me.

Ok, onto Jack Jack. I am so tired, and I'm sure Kevin is even more. I work part-time, like, 20 hours a week, but when I do work, it's often times until midnight. Well, last night was one of those nights. I roll in around 12:10am or so, and of course my honey was waiting up for me. He does that on all the nights I work to make sure I'm home safe and sound (I think the real reason he stays up is because he is playing video games and to avoid me being grouchy he says he's awake for my well being... hmmmmm!!!!)

So, we head off to bed. I have no idea at what time Jack started crying, but I did not hear him. Apparently, Babycakes (Jack) rolled over in his crib onto this singing dog that wouldn't shut off. Since it kept him awake, he was crying. Kevin got up and brought him into the room so he would feel better and be cuddled.

7am rolls around and there's a kung fu combo of hair pulling and hitting from my tot going down. Nothing says "Wake up, Mom!" like a punch to the face. I am so exhausted! Why can't he just sleep!? And poor Kevin got even less sleep then me because he was up all night trying to get Jack Jack back down.

On another note, our sweet boy has learned how to take off his pants. He's been able to for a few months now, but it was only just recently that he became a pro at it. Both yesterday and today I was making us breakfast and the next thing I know there's a half naked baby running through my living room. Who am I to judge, right? I say if a person doesn't want to wear pants, let them not wear pants!

New Rule

Last night Jack woke up at 5:30am crying. Not sure why, but it took Kevin a good hour to get him back down. So, I'm enforcing a new rule here. No more waking mommy up at 5:30am. Ok, lets see if Jack can follow it.

10 Days Left!

Jack is dreaming about his awesome birthday right now.

Yes, can you believe it? Only 10 days left until Jack's big day! Yesterday was a busy day for us. We went to the party store, Target, & Baskin Robins to stock up on party supplies and gifts for Jack. It took me until 11:00pm last night! I got really carried away and called Kevin from Target. I was like, "Babe, you gotta stop me. I am waaaaaaay over budget!" You know what he says? He says, "That's ok, baby. It's for Jack." Isn't he so sweet!? But so not the right answer! So, yeah, Jack's party is going to be sooo awesome! I also ordered his fabulous pirate cake from Baskin Robins yesterday.  I am so stoked that they had one. The first Baskin Robins I went to said they didn't carry it, so I had them call the other location who does. I turned into Monster Mommy... I mean, what's a pirate party without a pirate cake? When it comes to a theme, I take it all the way.

Now that everything is bought, I am going to need Friday for setting up and a trip to Costco. Then Saturday morning I go pick up the cake, the Port of Subs, balloons, and make magic happen all by 11:00am! It is my baby's first birthday so I want it to the best. A lot of people are coming from far away (California, Nevada, and possibly a pop-in from Laura's family from England) just for my Jack Jack so I want everything to be just perfect. I'm expecting around 15 - 20 people. Oh my gosh, I wish I had taken Friday off work, too. I need an assistant. Oh wait, that's what Kevin is for!

Jack Sprat

No major updates today. Jack has been practicing his standing like a mad-man. Grandma Tutu is in town so I'm sure we'll have plenty of updates tomorrow.

As for this picture? Jack was hanging out with me in the bedroom. He was quietly playing on the floor. Then it got really quiet and when I turned around, this is how my sweet boy fell asleep. He looked so uncomfortable but stayed like that for about an hour.

Standing... Standing!!! Ouch! Falling... Falling!!!

This is Jack at 2am the other night when he decided to wake up and was in need of some cuddles. Such a prince!

Jack has been practicing every day to stand but just can't seem to let go of whatever is bracing him. Aunt Jessica got him to do it by saying "Yay Jack!" and clapping, so then he let go of her and started clapping. But when he realized that nothing was holding him up, he came to a crash. The bigger they are, the harder they fall! So, for now, couches, walls, and aunt's will just have to keep helping him until he's ready. I'd love for him to be able to walk because my back is killing me, but then I realized the sooner her walks, the sooner he's going to try to get away and get into trouble. And don't even try to tell me that that sweet little tot wouldn't try to get into trouble. He's a boy and boys mean trouble!

Mr. Popular

Well, I must say, Jack is one popular tot! This weekend, Grandma Lisa, Grandpa Jay, and Aunt Stevie came all the way from Reno just to see him! I encourage all of you to read Grandma Lisa's blog on the trip (http://rydmyown.blogspot.com/) as it goes into great detail on his adventures with them. Please note, pictures in this blog were taken by Grandma.

So, Jack's big three day weekend begun with the Lynch family coming over for dinner. Kevin made angel hair pasta with alfredo sauce and mushrooms from the front yard. (Ok, I'm kidding about the mushroom part, really they came from the store.) Afterwards, they scooped Jack up and took him to watch fireworks. Of course, being part Reese, he fell asleep.

The next day, they headed over to the High Desert Museum. I haven't been yet, but I hear it is a lot of fun. I got them some free tickets (see tomorrow's blog "The Golden Ticket" on who I had to fight with in the public library just for the tickets!).  They also took him to Lava Butte. By the end of the day, everyone was wiped out! Jack slept so well, which in turn, meant I slept well.

Sunday they had to head home, but not before treating us to the most amazing meal I've ever had. Warden, bring on the lethal injection! It was that good. I couldn't stop talking about the egg I had. By the end of breakfast, I'm sure they thought I was nuts. It really was a good egg! I mean, so fluffy and perfect! I can see why my Aunt Linda and her kids have such nice kitchenware.

So, the Lynch family has headed home for now. They will be up for Jack's 1st birthday next month. Hopefully they ride their Harley's up and I can take a picture next to one and pretend I'm super cool. Oh who are we kidding? I go to Star Wars conventions and play original Ninetendo. I am super cool!

Thank you so much, Lisa, Jay, and Stevie, for taking time out of your lives to see Jack. He's a very special boy and it means so much to me that you came out!!! Can't wait for your next big adventure here!

Cheese!

Here are a few pictures of Jack from yesterday. He loves swiss cheese (obviously!). And the hand print? Jack fell asleep on his hand and this is what it left. So cute!

A Few Pictures from Yesterday

Jack and Muffin: One wants out, the other wants in.

One of Jack's favorite sleeping positions. We try to flatten him out but he always goes back to this. Maybe he'll be a dancer or in gymnastics with this kind of flexibility.

Sleeping Beauty

There's an old saying in my family that goes, "She/He's a Reese!" When said, we are referring to that person being asleep. We take sleep very seriously in my family, and Jack is no exception. Here are some of my favorite sleeping Jack pictures starting with the most current here in Bend.
