My friends, these are topsy turvy times we live in. Revolutions, recessions, blizzards and the end of the football season; like it or not, this is the world we're bringing this baby into. It's a cold world, it's a hard world, and it's a merciless world. This is a world that will take everything it can from you, if you let it. But my friends! My friends! Oh my friends, there is one thing we're going to give this baby that no one will ever be able to take. No matter what happens, this is our first gift to him, and it's his forever.
A name. A name that will bring joy to the ears of his comrades, and fear to the hearts of his enemies. A name that will be sung, shouted, whispered, lauded and probably used as the answer to the question "Who the hell got peanut butter all over daddy's xbox?" more than I will care for.
So my friends, we better take care to pick a goddamned good one.
Sixty-four names. Each one a potential identity for this stupendous badass we are about to welcome/unleash into the world. Each name will have to fight. Sixty-three names will lose. But one will emerge battle-tested, hardened, proven worthy as our first gift.
And we only need one.
If you are new to the bracket, here's how it works. Sixty-four names have been chosen by me and Laura as our potential pool of names. Names face off in pairs, with the better name going on to the next round to face off with yet another name, so on and so forth until we get to the end and have picked the name of the baby. You make your picks of what names are worthy, and the person who gets the most picks right will be deemed this year's Lord of the Baby Names. There's a big gaudy WWE-style championship belt and a trophy ceremony, it's really quite spectacular.
